Phosphoric acid, fructose, ... Of course dentists like it! Haha.
Back to my real concern and comments: to blame carbonated drink is the cause of this young Chinese fellow's renal failure is just absurd, unless the doctor shows there is extensive renal stones, calcinosis and blabla.
In real life, 9 out of 10 this kind of patients will need a kidney biospy to try to tell the etiology, instead of pointing to a soda can and tell the patient: THAT IS IT! No one can practice medicine like this in US, and I am pretty sure most Chinese docs won't do like this either.
We always recommend to keep pateint away from soft drink. There is no argument on that part. A lot of US schools already start to ban soda soft drink in schools.
