1.Creatinine is a chemical waste molecule that is generated from muscle metabolism(肌酐是肌肉在人体内代谢的产物).

As the kidneys become impaired for any reason, the creatinine level in the blood will rise due to poor clearance by the kidneys. Abnormally high levels of creatinine thus warn of possible malfunction or failure of the kidneys(肾功能不全时，肌酐经肾小球的滤过量减少,随尿排出减少,因而血肌酐值升高).

In people with malnutrition, severe weight loss, and long standing illnesses the muscle mass tends to diminish over time and, therefore, their creatinine level may be lower than expected for their age(营养不良,过度减肥和长期患病,会使肌肉量减低,肌酐值也就低了下来).

2.The blood urea nitrogen (BUN) test(血液尿素氮检测) is a measure of the amount of nitrogen in the blood in the form of urea, and a measurement of renal function. Urea is a substance secreted by the liver, and removed from the blood by the kidneys.

A greatly elevated BUN (>60 mg/dL) generally indicates a moderate-to-severe degree of renal failure.

A low BUN usually has little significance(BUN低了,较少有临床价值), but its causes include liver problems, malnutrition (insufficient dietary protein), or excessive alcohol consumption. Overhydration from intravenous fluids can result in a low BUN. Normal changes in renal bloodflow during pregnancy will also lower BUN(可能由于肝的问题,营养不良---蛋白质摄入不足或过量饮酒造成.过量输液和正常孕期时也会引起低值).
