Which cancer is non-fatal? Please help!

A very important person in my life was diagnosed with a major decease. He indicated that it is nicknamed nonfatal cancer but he will not tell me exactly what it is. According to him, it is not contagious. The devil is actually within the immune system, which was activated by the some wrong signals and started to attack body tissues. With good self-discipline, for instance, don't sit a in chair with an inappropriate position for too long and things like that, it will not be out of control. And medical science on it has developed to a promising stage.

Because people can't detect it. He chose not to disclose it to the Doctors because he believes that there is not much the doctors can do without hurting his other good organs. I am worried because he does not trust the Doctors and that could worsen his condition. But first I want to find out what the decease is before I could possibly help.

Could any doctor in this forum give me a hint? Thanks!
