1. if you are in US, or Canada, most doctors are trained under the same standard, and follow the same recommendations. Trust them.
2. I assume your thyroid cancer is differentiated, (there are many types of thyroid cancer based on pathology result). For differentiated thyroid cancer which is less than 1 cm, the benefit of radiation or chemotherapy after complete resection is controversial. So generally it is not recommended after complete surgical resection.
3. However, it does not mean that the cancer will never come back. There is still a low chance that it recurs after complete surgical resection. So routine follow up is very important (including blood tests and imaging studies).
4. Take it easy, and good luck! Sometimes it is not the physical disease but the mental problem that ruin your life.
