Good question! One of the proposed ingredients in walnuts that contribute to the reduced risk of breast cancer is alpha linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid. Walnuts contain 4 - 10% alpha linolenic acid, while pecans only contains about 0.7% alpha linolenic acid. So pecan may not have the same health benefits as walnuts. But only a real study can determine whether pecan has similar benfits or not.
Good question!
