and are willing to pay for the tuitions.

Americans don't take IVY education as serious as Asians and the parents take care of themselves more than the Asians, many of them are happy to save more for their retirement than paying the tuitions for league education comparing with the Asians with similar middle class income.

I have a lot American colleagues whose kids are at college entance age. Some of them choose state universities, some choose liberal art colleges. My colleague, who is a mother of 3, with MD, PhD from Penn, is so down to earth. She told me to help her kids go to the college they like and fit them both intellectually and emotionally is the most important. She herself went to liberal art college and met her hu*****and before graduate school. She is a very elegant and smart lady, but not are also friendly and approachable.

There is no need to be so uptight about college, this is not China 20 years ago. Kids have tons of choices in front of them.
