Harvey Mudd is challenging because they believe in hard work. Lots of it.
Expect to spend 100 hours a week studying. Minimum.
Time management is crucial. Do not expect a social life. Do not expect a party school. Be disciplined. I aimed for 7.5 hours of sleep a night. A shower. Two meals at the dining hall (Platt) per day. Classes. Relaxation was 30 mins of TV per day. The rest of the time was studying. Mostly doing homework. Lots and lots and lots of homework. It was not uncommon to spend 10 hours per week per class on homework. And that’s not including semester projects, term papers, etc.
Harvey Mudd is challenging because they believe in excellence. Screw up that homework? Redo. That’s right, you get to do it over again. More time. Get it right the first time. Check your work.
Harvey Mudd demands that you be your very best. Nothing less will do. And that is very difficult.
