Electrical and electronic engineering is the study of the applications of electricity, generally those involving current flow through motors, generators and other conductors. Students in this field will learn about the conduction of electricity through gases or a vacuum as well as through semiconducting materials.

The discipline includes topics like image and signal processing, electromagnetics, electronic components and materials, microwave technology, and microelectronics. These are the world's top universities for electrical and electronic engineering, based on their research performance in the field
