I can say that doing research at Columbia as an undergraduate is a pain. Most professors see undergraduates as a burden, and I’ve had to chase down and borderline beg professors for research. I’m not premed, but I have TA’d a premed physics class and I will say that the competition / pressure is really strong, and there likely is some grade deflation. I had a student email the department head over an A- vs an A. Between the two, I would pick Northwestern.
