文科,商科 (and Law) are more challenge to our Chinese kids because of our culture background. It is hard for us as parents to get a deep grasp of main stream US culture. So our kids are not getting the help there. To make things even worse, we often try to influence our kids with our own culture.
So, we as parents, need to talk with different white people more to understand their diverse thinkings more (which is not easy to do because of our small circles), Also, we need to read classic works about religion, philosophy, literature, economics, etc. That way, we will learn about the current culture as well as the root of the culture. And we have much better understanding.
Most importantly, we need do away with our narrow science-enginerring mind, and think things through with more balanced perspectives.
I know it is hard to do, but at least we need some people to have this type of mindset, so collectly, we can improve our status.
