求教如何在申请中体现personality

孩子各项成绩都不错，但是没有大奖项。不过个性很好，从小到大，走哪里都受老师同学队友喜欢，特别是教练的喜欢（无奈技术水平不够格做队长）有一些leadership，但是没在学生会。怎样能在申请中体现个性的优势呢？Essay作文水平一般，也不擅长自夸。 而couselor管几百号孩子，对孩子也了解不多。 是否可以请教练这些不能写大学推荐信的人给counselor写信多说说孩子的好话，这样counselor可能在他的推荐信里美言孩子几句？另外还可能有什么tip?谢谢
