I have a son (6 years old) who has downs syndrome.
It was really hard to raise such a kid in the first three
years (mainly feeding problem). He is physically and
mentally retarded but he has tried his best to learn.
Now he can count from 1 to 10, spell all the letters from A to Z, say some simple words like "tree", "car", "school bus", "get up", "sit down", "pizza" (his favorite food), "juice" etc. He is a very cute and lovely boy. All our family members love him very much. He is very gentle and cares about others a lot. If you carelessly hurt yourself, he would run over to hug you and touch your hurting place. If you are busy in your study or work, he will not bother you and just play games on computer or TV by himself. He likes to play soccer with me and he has joined some local soccer team for fun. He is a very happy boy and always enjoys what he is doing. Even if his ability is very limited, I believe that God has given him wisdom to learn and grow up with a kind heart. Also,
because of his disease, we have learned how to love and
care about those who have disabilities. We indeed thank
God for giving us such a wonderful boy. May God's comfort and blessing be with your friend!
