A divine language. It explains why some kids or adults have math anxiety or difficulty solving word problems, or understanding algebra. For the author of the book, the struggle with algebra was real. Math beyond arithmetic simply doesn't make sense to people like him. Letters representing numbers isn't intuitive to a lot people, especially middle schoolers. They are not to be blamed though. A lot of times they suffer from bad teachers and anxious parents like you when they are introduced to pure math or algebra, the mingle of letters and numbers, the long equations, etc.. Just relax and let it go. They either get it or not, you can't force it on. It takes an epiphany.
