General Comments:
Congrats to all those who got in. I guess getting rejected at 2 schools

really easy for me to choose. I only got into one non-safety so far, so
I guess that's where I'll be

Job/Work Experience: Worked 15 hrs a week at pizza place for 1.5 years

Essays (subject and responses): Life in general? Mostly tangents about
farm life and such. It was twisted from a UChicago essay on "where is
your perfect place?".
Teacher Recs: Glowing beyond belief, and one was semi-detailed: "Best in the class, hands down"
Counselor Rec: Not sure, but probably more of the above

Interview (feel, interviewer and general location): (On-Campus) Hardest
one I had, I didn't think it went that great, but also not a disaster.

Income Bracket: About $90,000; but we farm so the huge assets meant no fin. aid for me
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): My dad farms and never went to college, but my mom went to UIUC.
Strengths: Scores and grades (but so are everyone's), maybe that I come from a not-so-hot sort of rural school.
Weaknesses: That second essay was HORRIBLE. My ECs are not notable at all (but maybe slightly quirky?).
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: Blind friggin' luck, baby.
Other Factors:
I can't think of any. Maybe the counselor cooked up some "this is the
best applicant the school has ever seen" crap to get me in.

very important for Harvard.

Strengths: I''m pretty well-rounded, and I try to convey that aspect.
Weaknesses: No major awards -- I only do a lot of math competitions but I didn''t qualify for USAMO.

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think I don''t
have enough of a "hook" to get into Harvard (regardless of
well-rounded-ness). If I made Siemens or Intel, I probably would have
had a very good shot at this.

General Comments:
I''m not very sad or depressed at all! I love MIT and I would attend. If
I really wanted to be at Harvard, I can cross-register from MIT with
Harvard anyway. Good luck with everyone else''s decisions!

Obama, and he said, "Oh, I''m a Hilary fan" and all I was thinking was
"Gulp!*" I thought it was my worst interview of all the interviews I
went to, but wow~ ^.^ My friend from my school had been interviewed by

Also, as of now, I think I will be attending Harvard~ Unless my

Kinda knew I was screwed from the start--four people from my school got
into Harvard this year--every single one of which was a legacy. Three
got in EA, one got in RD (and the one who got in RD got waitlisted at
Georgetown, where I got in). It''s kinda frustrating, but I''m at least
proud that I made it onto the waitlist without a single connection
whatsoever to the school.

* Volunteer/Community service: counselor, tutor, Big Brothers Big
Sisters, church things, campaigning, neighborhood council, avid
volunteering -too much junk to list
* Summer Activities: counseling few weeks as a JC at a local camp, teaching VBS, NYLC, traveling

* Essays: I really liked them (my writing is strong)- one on
campaigning on Halloween and different republican/learning activities
with my best friend; the other on being a pastor''s daughter, having 5
sisters, and how that impacts my morality; both were humorous and were
the antithesis of fake or what I thought they might want
* Teacher
Recommendation: one from 11th grade AP English, one from AP Calc, I
thought they could have been better but both were, I guess, fantastic
* Counselor Rec: my counselor adores me
* Additional Rec:

* Interview: had a major cough, but she really thought I''d fit in at
Harvard and we related because she was a Christian like me and she
thought I was super interesting despite me coughing on her; when I left
(kinda early because I was sick), I told her I had to go back to
English to reenact Hamlet and read Hamlet''s lines because no one else
would. She smiled, stared, and said that she loved Hamlet.

Reflection

* Strengths: I''m unique because I''m a conservative republican and
Christian and my writing reflected it (I didn''t realize that I was
flaunting my uniqueness with those essays until I started to wonder how
in the world I got in); I sent in a CD with my marimba solo recording
* Weaknesses: other applicants had higher scores

* Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I had something
others didn''t (right-wing all the way) and wasn''t afraid to tell about
my conservatism; no one ever got in from my school and no one from my
city (Spokane) for a few years

General Comments: Don''t stress
on the scores; give them who you are, not who you think they might want
you to be; I never thought I would get in, so it majorly changed my
vision of my future
