选择1:打算开车送孩子去大学,把车卖了再坐飞机回来,顺便住在Austin刚买的房子里看看工人修得怎么样。
选择2: 飞机来回,老二就不去了,我们大人可能只去一个。
主要担心疫情,泥石流,山火。我们全家都已打了疫苗。

day 1: San Francisco bay area to Fallon, 5 hours 317 miles, visit petroglyphs at Grimes Point at Fallon
day 2: Fallon to Baker, 5 hours 319 miles; visit Great Basin NP
day 3: Baker to Grand Junction, 5.5 hours 374 miles; taste cinnamon rolls at Dream Cafe, Pablo’s Pizza (Q: Grand Junction seems to have high Covid cases)
day 4: Grand Junction to Durango; drive million dollar highway, visit Ouray, Black Canyon of Gunnison NP, Silverton (Q: any danger of mudslide?)
day 5: visit Mesa Verde NP, stay at Far View Lodge (Unfortunately the tours at Mesa Verde are sold out)
day 6: Mesa Verde to Santa Fe, stay at La Fonda, driving time 4.5 hours 273 miles; visit Pagosa Springs, Chama railyards, Los Alamos National Lab and Museum
day 7: Santa Fe to Lubbock, 5 hours 313 miles; visit Buddy Holy Center
day 8: Lubbock to Austin, 5.5 hours 364 miles
day 9: visit campus and some local sights in Austin (do not plan to spend a lot of time here as we expect to come back often in the future)
day 10-16: fly back (may stay in Austin house and WFH for a few days)
