挫折教育，爹妈的说教不如面对现实

昨天下班回家，儿子上完了网课，从自己房间出来，准备去跑步。见了老爸，嘻嘻一笑：Finally, got an offer...

也不知interview了多少次了。疫情肆虐的日子，孩子们找internship/工作，都是网上，所以爹妈也不知道详情，更不知道interview多少次了。每次问他，就是：I am trying...So hard, nobody wants me. Last time a company was interested, but asked me to take the job immediately. I can't，I have to take classes for at least one more year before graduation...

知道孩子压力大，第三年了，summer internship找不到，第四年如何决定前面的路。。。为了缓解儿子的压力，只好给他说：别着急，真找不到工作，你就在这里麦当劳打工也能养活自己的。你看，一小时麦当劳也有15块了，一年下来就是三万多，一半存retirement,一半自己花。和爹妈住一起，不交房租不付饭钱，最多给老爸割割草，给老妈搬搬东西，一个月千把块的零花钱，也蛮舒服的。。。人家撇撇嘴，笑一笑。。。

从trading company到non-profit organization，人家到处试。老爸开玩笑：找工作就和找老婆一样，只需要一个。多努力，总有希望找到一个的。。。上个礼拜老妈看到本地的YMCA暑假找人，就问儿子有没有兴趣。儿子说：我这个summer找不到的话，我得真考虑准备GRE考试，读研究生了。YMCA就算了。。。

听到儿子的消息，老妈终于大嘘一口气。我告诉老妈：儿子明天还有一个波士顿的interview,他说那才是他最想去的，不知道有没有戏；现在这个据说总部在芝加哥，是作Marketing的，等他拿到正式offer,我去问问芝加哥的老朋友，他在一家大型marketing公司，看是不是同一家。。。

孩子大了，父母就只能靠边站，着急也帮不上忙。。。也许少说教，多让他们磕磕碰碰，面对困境和挫折，更容易学会人生路上的取舍/decision making。
