My friend's son attended high school in the US after finishing middle school in Shanghai.
He matriculated in mathematics at Georgia Tech as an undergraduate.
Immediatlely after receving his PhD in math (Statistics and Probability) from Stanford, he worked for Morgan Stanley in New York.
Currently, he is at Google working in the area of AI/ML/BigData.
So, 乔治亚理工的数学专业 is very strong.
As far as gainful employment is concerned, Statistics/Probability is one of the best math concentrations. Finance, insurance and investment firms (and increasingly tech companies) always look for new grads with strong Statistics/Probability background. It is even better if you can pair it with CS or Economics. And being articulate and able to write well does not hurt either.
One of my kids is an Economics/Statistics major at CMU and will be graduating next May. She has received multiple job offers by the end of October, 2019. She has decided to work for a big payment company in the Bay Area, joining their New College Graduate Management Rotation program. This is a 2-year program with four 6-month rotations, which are Business Development, Marketing, Brand Management, and Research & Operations. Her pay, obviously, cannot compare with the CS majors but is only slightly below the EE majors.
