With any drug, it's always the addiction that kills

Aside from chemical dependency created in the body, just such "benefit" is enough incentive for continued use, which will lead to health danger sooner or later. If one relies on drugs to get in medical school or whatever highly competitive programs, he or she would have to rely on it to further themselves because they don't have the true ability in them. What a sad life it will be.
