It is not an option. My daughter started at 3 years old, now 6. I watch her practice everyday, except for the days we travel on the road. She does very well, but definitely needs my supervision. She can teach herself new pieces just by listening to the recording. But the new techniques and difficult parts need reminding from me and the teacher.
