Paysa SalaryRank leverages the large scale salary data and machine learning powering the Paysa platform. Total salaries for tech talent are computed across all salary components including base, bonus, equity and signing bonus if any. SalaryRank is displayed for both base salary and the total.
Salary rank is computed across the entire US as well as for top metro areas in tech.
The key elements computed are the average (also known as the mean estimate) and the standard deviation which allows us to calculate a range around the mean estimate. The range dispayed is the 75% confidence interval around the mean. Using machine learning on top of large scale data allows Paysa to calculate distributions around each salary component which enables the user to understand how likely it is that a given salary number within a range can be achieved.
