该修法文还是拉丁文？请过来人给点意见

孩子明年上初中，学校现在让决定选什么外语课，孩子想学法语。
我在考虑是否可以让她初中先学点拉丁文，高中再学法语？拉丁文是否对增加英文词汇量有帮助？希望有过来人能谈谈意见。
