European banks did not start their deleveraging process until much later. Many of them kept massive NPLs on their balance sheet and that restained their lending ability. ECB is not nearly as bold as Fed. All these contributed to why American recovery is so much swifter than Europe. I applaud the courage of Obama, Bernanke, and Paulson at the depth of crisis.
Sometimes, it takes courage to enact unpopular but correct policies rather than sucumbing to populist anger. To me, Trump is the ultimate manipulator of this anger and he manipulates it to his own gain. He is miles apart from the past giants of the Republican party, for example, Lincoln and Reagan. I am sad for the demise of the GOP.
