At the undergraduate level, if Cal is the Public King of the West, then UVA is the Public King of the East. If that were true, this public high school would beat any other public high school in terms of students enrolled in TOP public university of the East/West. As far as I know, no public high school can boast 80+ enrollment into Cal or even UCLA in a single year. Even using percentage, more than 20% of the seniors go to the top Public Universities (UVA + Cal + UM =106), which is awesome.
In addition, even though this high school is not in the neighborhood of any of the top private universities, its seniors have no problem garnering admission into these elite universities from the East to the West. Considering that the Ivies are weak in CS and tech in general and attract students interested in liberal art, the admission numbers to the Ivies from this public high school, which focuses on STEM, is respectable to say the least.
CMU admission (23) is another prime example of the strength of this public high school, which is likely one of the top feeder schools to CMU.
My daughter will go to W & M. Good for her since she will have scores of classmates there as well. Good for me due to the low in-state tuition rate.
