拳王阿里：一个跨越种族和宗教的英雄

这两天，所有媒体都围绕拳王阿里的逝世；连 NBA 总决赛的嘉宾们都不能幸免。

一个已经被帕金森氏症困扰了几十年的黑人穆斯林，一个在高中毕业时，在近391名学生中成绩排名376的“坏学生”，为什么会如此受人爱戴？

在拳击场上：The Rumble in the Jungle； The Thrilla in Manila；Fight of the Century！三次世界拳王；一次奥林匹克冠军。

在和平反战运动中：拒绝服兵役；因此被取消拳王称号，三年没有上拳击场！

即使在他患病之后，阿里依然是一位精神领袖，足迹遍布全球：给印尼和摩洛哥的受灾孩子送救济物资；在阿富汗战争期间，卡特总统派阿里当国际友谊大使，前往阿富汗和谈；在1990年，阿里和萨达姆侯赛因谈判，解救了14名美国人质；在1996年亚特兰大奥运会点燃火炬；911 后，面对各种对穆斯林的不公指控，阿里发声：恐怖分子不代表所有穆斯林！“You know me, I’m a boxer, I’m called the greatest of all time. People recognize me for being a boxer, a man of truth. And I wouldn’t be here representing Islam if it was really like the terrorists made it look . . . 克林顿总统将会在阿里的追悼会上致词，悼念公认的 the Greatest!

去年12月份，某总统侯选人声称：

In a statement titled, “Presidential Candidates Proposing to Ban Muslim Immigration to the United States” that Ali issued last December after Trump first floated the proposal, the boxing great never mentioned Trump by name – but his message was clear. "I am a Muslim and there is nothing Islamic about killing innocent people in Paris, San Bernardino, or anywhere else in the world. True Muslims know that the ruthless violence of so called Islamic Jihadists goes against the very tenets of our religion."

“Our political leaders should use their position to bring understanding about the religion ofIslam,” Ali wrote, “and clarify that these misguided murderers have perverted people's views on what Islam really is.”

The “murderers” he was referring to where the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks in Paris, San Bernardino and other incidents carried out by violent Islamic extremists.

日前另一位总统侯选人声称：

"I’ve been all over this country and I’m talking to Muslim people who say, ‘You know, Bernie, our kids are now afraid.’

"I say to those people, one of the great American heroes in modern American history was Muhammad Ali, a very proud Muslim. Don’t tell me how much you love Muhammad Ali and yet you’re going to be prejudiced against Muslims in this country."
