Of course, role models matter, both for girls and boys. I disagree to the notion that the Chinese parents, fathers in particular, are not good role models. I was always taught to be responsible, courageous. I am sure other fathers were taught the same way. The 1st gen immigrants have some language disadvantages, but the 2nd gen does not have this problem. The main issue is to learn to speak up. We may tend to be quiet, but that does not mean we are not strong in character. Don't let racial stereotypes trap yourself.
