问个高中棒球队的事

小儿今年高一，刚参加完学校(两千来人的普通公校）棒球队的tryouts. 教练给了两个选择。一是打JV，会是leadoff hitter /middle infielder; 二是跟V队，但恐怕出场时间无法保证，顶多可能是作为pinch runner露一小脸，因为教练要优先考虑seniors/juniors. 请教家有棒球娃的家长，这种情况该如何取舍？
