I let my boys learn different sports and they practice for different teams every afternoon after school finished, sometimes in the evenings. And they play for games on weekends

I don't think it is good to let them stay in the after-school 5 days to continue doing the Math and English work sheets provided by the after-school owner.

Even though my eldest son is not athlete at all, but I really think, as a boy, he needs to be good for at least one sport. So I insisted to keep him swimming. He has been swimming for about 5 years, his body shape looks really good now. So does my 2nd son.

Sending my two sons to swimming practice every afternoon is a big commitment. I even pay friend to help me dropping the boys to swim since I am working.

Some of my friends asked me, what is the reason to keep your son swimming so long? Do you or your son gain anything from doing this?

I really have no answer to this question. Should we, as parents, always expect something from what we do for our kids?

Actually, letting our kids play sports is much easier to let them learn playing music instruments. For playing sports, you just need to be a driver and help your kids finding the good coach and team, then it is the coach's job to teach the kids. For playing music instruments, most of time, it is parent's job in the first few years.

I am a Chinese Parent, so I still let my boys learn playing music instruments as well. :) Just want them to know something about music. I am trying my best.
