To:
Eric Schneiderman, New York Attorney General
Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New York City
Jimmy Van Bramer, NYC Council Member, District 26
Barbara Fiala, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles
Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York
I am writing to call for justice for Allison Liao and her family and friends.
A little over a year ago, 3-year-old Allison Liao from Queens, NY was hit and killed while walking with her grandmother in a crosswalk, with the right of way. According to gothamist, the driver, Ahmad Abu-Zayedeh, ended up "...running over Allison's body with his front wheel, and head with his rear wheel. Allison died at New York Hospital Queens" (see article link below). The driver has since not been charged with a criminal act. He received summonses for failing to excersize due care and failing to yield to a pedistrian. Unfortunately, those summonses were recently voided by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. We are asking for you to help bring about appropriate punishment to the driver of this horrible act - not just a slap on the wrist.
I want New York City to be safe place for all pedestrians, however it will not be so until reckless drivers who hit pedestrians are held accountable for their actions.
