Not trying to make you worry or anything, but this was my case when I was like 11 or 12. It turned out that I had a blood vessle problem (xue guan liu) in my nose and they used liquid nitrogen to freeze it off. No more problem after that. This probably is not what your son has, but just want to share my experience with you.
