Human evolution.

Females are more beautiful than they were thousands of years ago, while males are basically not changed a bit. In animal world, males are always more beautiful than females, where males are colorful while females are simply plain and gray. Can any one guess what the real reason is behind this diverging evolution? Theoretically, men should be more attractive than women like all the other animals in the world, but in this real world the case is reversed. One possible reason could be pretty women give birth to more girls. If this is true, in the evolution process, there would be more pretty women in the next generation, then generation after generation. After thousand years of low evolution, women reversed their appearances to be more beautiful than men. Look around you or check the known public information to see if beautiful women are more likely have daughters (It's only on statistical basis, which does not mean beautiful women definately have pretty daughters, in fact reversed again in many cases.) If you, like myself, have only sons, don't make conclusions that you or your wife is not beautiful. In fact, many beautiful women have handsome sons.
