thank you both. his hearing has no problem, he reacts to very light sounds. He does not always react to words, but it is hard to tell if he chooses to ignore them, or he cannot understand them. He expresses his need with gestures (e.g., he wants a hug, he wants to go somewhere). He made his own word "atee", which he says whenever he is happy, and has managed to teach other children at the daycare this word.
I guess I may be overreacting. But he does not make lots of eye contact. I saw somebody just said that this is a sign of autism, and I started to get worried.
