I don't think it is a good idea to follow your coworker. Your kid will be so confused by you. It is fit for his kids which is not mean it is fit for your kids. I don't know how old is your kid and can you switch the track now? What if your kid does not like the school and has horrible time, then, Who is going to take the blame? Are you going to take him back? As far as your kid is happy and enjoy his life right now, it should be fine. You may adjust his schedule a little bit but may not the whole environment.
