Stanford has sent acceptance letters to 725 high school students who sought admission to the Class of 2017 under the university's early admission program.
The students were selected from 6,103 early admission candidates, the largest restricted early application pool in Stanford's history. Acceptance rate is 11.9%.
The 725 students who received acceptance letters come from 43 states and 28 countries. More than 70 percent have a high school grade point average of 4.0 or higher and have demonstrated excellence in fields ranging from fine arts, writing and the humanities to engineering and science.
