That's what my D told me:

"Girls on average in MIT are not as strong as boys. But among top third students there is no difference."

By the way, my D had no any science competition award and even though her science/math is pretty strong(ap math BC and physics C, qualifies aime)but that's nothing compares to others kids on this board. I think she got in because she participated in their summer program for girls and she likes MIT and MIT likes her.

Did I mention she is tall and pretty? Sorry about the BSO but MIT has a lot of pretty girls. bonus for boys.

My D is doing very well there and she sat in with boys with olympic medals of this and that. But medals mean very little, only helps to get in, I guess.

MIT is not boring at all. An example, last friday, her Greek Philosophy prof. took her and a few others to fine art M. and it became a guided tour for the whole afternoon.

I don't know why I'm here to say good thing about MIT, I guess we all like the schools our kids go to. They're all the best. If you don't like MIT, that is even better. My son has a better chance then. Haha.
