My pre-Thanksgiving dinner was a disaster, I tried a new recipe for roasting a duck, but somehow, 我把一只苍白的鸭子烤得比乌鸦还黑。I lost my passion, our family was about going out for Thanksgiving dinner.
The second day, 我接到老白老师inviting our family to his home for Thanksgiving dinner . 太好啦, I do not have to roast any kind of bird for a while.
老白老师是我的音乐老友, he and his wife both immigrated from台湾, they were working for government, now, both retired . 我与他和他太太一起去down town concert hall 听交响乐。我那运动家hu*****and likes to listen to teenager's songs, my daughter's favorites , I would have a nerves break down if I listen to those music.
At Thanksgiving evening , 我们一家三口带一束鲜花，一瓶体面的红酒就去赴宴了。
我见到老白老师的younger son who came home for Thanksgiving. I know that he is 斯坦福 graduate. 正好问问爬藤之密笈.（受你们大家影响啊）。
But this young man 无意于 brags his ivy league school's glory, 我也没啥收获。
有一点可以肯定：从他身高，相貌，体格，谈吐，学识 在 亚裔男中都是前10%。According his mother:
他在高中期间是 good tennis player and good debater. 进思坦福 大学学机戒工程。之后在一欧洲公司工作两年as an engineer. 不满足于现状，又 go back to school , got into top MBA program 获硕士学位。到非洲义工1年，现年30出头，他已经在一家大公司做管理工作了。He does not speak Chinese, refused to go to Chinese school when he was young, prefers to date white women. But he is a good son, after his elder sister married to her collage sweat heart (also white) moved to far southern state, he chose to move close to his parent to take care of aging mom and daddy. 这是一个成功地 好小中男！
席间见到一位华人长辈，高大，有威仪，( not the good looking kind, but he definitely has leader's charisma), 穿 西装 in a casual style.
I recognized him from the TV news , he was running for our distract Congress man, now days a city mayor.
（ I am telling you: if you have the body frame, wear 西装 in casual style is a good choice, because 西装 is nicely constructed , with shoulder pad, it will make you look better. if you do not have the body frame, 去运动吧。)
谈到红酒，Mr. mayor 认真地告诉我：Trader Joe 的$2.99 的 红酒 是最好的。是他最喜欢的。 wow, I am not sure I would use $2.99 wine as cooking wine . 这让我想起 我们老北京的 两块五一瓶的 二锅头，如今也包装华丽，身价倍增，正要改名叫作一锅头呢。这美国的市长当地寒酸。但也 说明他从政之清廉吧。
I had a talk with Mrs .Mayor. Both of the couple Immigrated from 台湾around 20years old. The lady went to a prestigious 女子学院, near the art and design school where I graduated.
I am always curious about how the people 培养孩子。The Mrs.mayor told me: 她有一儿一女，女儿学社会学，now , a professor teaches in the university . Married to her classmate (white), having one girl. Her son studied 计算机 专业, also married to a white women. Since his wife got a good job position overseas,he went there with her,along with their two young daughters. He decided to stay at home to take care of the children.（ 我们叫作 "家庭煮夫”）。
听起来这位女士对她的一双儿女充满了爱惜和矫傲。
这对华人夫妇在我看来真是少数族裔融入主流社会之典范：积极参政，从政。子女通婚于主流族裔。永远爱孩子们， 不管他们学甚么，做甚么。著重个人仪表。
我与我先生和女儿 had a good and inspirational Thanksgiving this year.
