I doubt MIT and CMU graduates will

stay as coders full time for long unless they absolutely love it. They will soon move on into managerial positions, start own companies, or go back to graduate schools for MBAs or something.

As for the starting salary, I saw 2 kids start working for Silicon Valley companies around the same time. The one with a CS dgreee from a 2nd-tier college was paid $90k vs. $120k for the other guy with a CS BS from CMU.
