What kind of trading doesn't have a win/loss chance of 50/50?

since this is a zero sum game.

Ones don't have to put up capital to run day trading, I believe that is why many market making firms run that business on the side. But I don't think banks never hired people with day trading history to run their own books. I, in person, know a couple of guys were hired by the banks but they did day trading prior to that.

News are all misleading one way or another. I don't mind. Actually, it is good to portrait some financiers as victims, which can sooth citizen's anger against finance industry.
