纠结:儿子-20天-400miles

My brother-in-law下个月要开始他的长达4.5个月PCT thru hiking。全程2,663miles。他想要带我儿子爬其中的20天。我儿子现在10岁,是很棒的hiker. 他爬了很多14ers，但是没有backpacking的经验。很担心他不能背着２０多磅的backpack每天爬20-30miles,所以我婉言拒绝了.  My brother-in-law 说he's very dispointed,because it is a great trip for my son. 难道是我的中式思维在作怪?我应该撒开手让儿子去闯吗?
