"The phrase 'evolution versus creation' inherently confounds and oversimplifies the different levels at which the question can be addressed. It is possible to identify three levels of questions related to evolution. The first is in the observatory sense -- whether descent with modification is a brute fact; we either see it, or we don’t. (We do.) The second level is in whether this change we see is sufficient to explain the biodiversity that we see today. Again, the data that we have so far holds up this assertion. The third level is in whether this negates the necessity of a Creator. Science as of present affirms the presence and effects of evolution on the first and second levels. However, it has absolutely no bearing on the third. A Creator, if one exists, exists inherently outside of nature, and thus outside of the domain of science. How does the existence of evolution affect our answer as to whether God exists? Evolution is the same as all other processes that one sees in nature; it represents a mechanism by which something occurs. Whatever that mechanism is simply a matter of selection on the Creator’s part. In this case, it so happens that this is indeed the very elegant way by which God generated -- and indeed created -- all the diversity of life forms that we see here on Earth. So in essence, for biological life, evolution is creation."
