she's a lawyer, good at using words. she actually did not claim to represent all of us. she just gave her own case (answering the question how Chinese parents do, and she has something to say because she is one) in the format of a memoir (autobiography, or one's personal experiences), not a cookbook for parenting. interestingly, the Chinese version of her book is subtitled "how to communicate with your children". I think she did quite a decent job at that.
