James Duke's fascination w Pton is supported by:

1). his endowment was registered near Princton, in Sommerville NJ.

2). he wanted to use the same stones as Princeton's buildings from a quarry in NJ. Due high cost he changed his mind to use stones from a local quarry in NC, so Duke's gothic buildings are of a brown hue compared w  the Princton's grey.See wiki on Duke.

Treat these as circumstantial to support the story.
