That is the goal his parents laid down, which I tend to agree. It is their family's substantial investment. In this society, the return or someone’s success is still largely judged by the type of school he went to and the wealth that he is able to build up.
While US private schools offer unique life experience to Chinese kids and help to develop their well-rounded personality in the future, this school is not one of the best schools that they would like to send their kid to.
My position is that, if he is not accepted by one of the best private schools now, what will be his chance to get into the top US universities when he will be compared with his US peers in 3 years?
