Me: really? the link,
Son: think they're referring to business schools. And if so, that's pretty much right. For better or for worse, MIT and Columbia are second tier business schools for the most prestigious of firms.
However, this is a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy. Most top tier firms hire out of undergrad from a number of schools, have these kids slave for them for two years and prove themselves, and provided they're good, will pay these kids' ways through business school. Additionally, schools like Harvard and Stanford look for the best applicants, who generally worked for prestigious firms before applying anyways. Thus, because many kids going into Harvard are from these prestigious firms to begin with, that article is slightly misleading.
Me: I don't know what "the best" implies for them? In another words, what kind of characters they are looking for? Hunters? Leaders? Creative thinkers? Trouble makers (of course making trouble for the others.)? :)
Son: Smart and not a tool. From there, they can make you what they want to make you. But if you're not smart or if you're a tool, then there's only so far you can go.
Moral of the story: get into a good firm out of college.
