Dear Mrs.--- ,
My 7th grader came back home after a club activity around 5:00pm yesterday, and told me she was so hungry since she did not get to eat lunch. When the bell rang, she was still standing in the line for food, obviously there was no time to get and eat it. This is not the first time! And usually she can have about 5min to eat!
I am wondering why she has always been at the end of line. She says that is because so many people are cutting in line, so even though she tries to get there as quickly as possible, she will always be end up at the end. Being so kind, she even says she can understand those people, because otherwise, they cannot get to eat, but she herself will never do that. Definitely, I told her she did the right thing for not cutting in line like others, but who can explain the result of this good behavior, not getting your lunch?
6th-8th grade, these are very important years for a kid to grow, physically and mentally. I cannot believe in US, this country, kids have to study the whole day without lunch? This is not right. I think the lunch time needs to be extended, or more lunch ladies are needed to make the waiting time shorter, much shorter. If these are difficult to implement, at least, a teacher or someone should be there to make sure no one is cutting in line. School is not just a place to teach academic, but good manners as well, isn’t it?
Thanks,

下面是她的恢复,看看明天会不会有效果。
Mrs. ----,
I am so sorry to hear that this is happening, and we will make every effort to supervise these lunch lines better to address the cutting in line. We certainly realize the importance of ensuring that all of our students receive a lunch and have enough time to eat. If there is ever any delay that is caused by our cafeteria staff, we certainly want the students to stay as long as is needed to eat their lunch, and then we will write them a pass to their class.
We are also working with our food and nutritional services department to get our students through the lunch lines in a more timely manner. I agree with you that teaching students to be good citizens with good manners is an important part of educating the whole child.
Please let me know if you continue to have concerns regarding lunch. I appreciate your bringing this matter to our attention.
Thank you,
