question about piano lesson

My son just started wanting to learn piano...so we have a teacher selected and  when the potential teacher talked to me on the phone before the first lesson,..he was basically trying to start the conversation and introduced himself..he said :"as you probably know ...my rate for lesson is xx$ for 30 minutes, but i normally go beyond 30 minutes for each session..."

since i have no exp. on this yet...do you think when he say i normally go beyond 30 minutes, is it showing off he has the passion to teach kids ? What if i only want 30 minutes lesson , but he always go beyond to 45 minutes...do you think i should look at the time and pay extra $$ based on the extra time he put in? what would you do if you were me?
