Some kids likes calligraphy, but most of them dont even in China. The cultrual environment is very important too. The first calligraphy image I can remeber was something written by my dad when I was around 4 year old. The first chinese painting I can remeber was a lotus by Qi Baishi in my bath basin (xi lian pen) around the same age. I love chinese calligraphy and painting from then till now, all the way. I like calligraphy to the extent that just like some kids addicted to video games.

But overall i dont suggest a 4 year old kid in USA to be pushed for that. Nothing can be pushed to become beloved.
