Art history is a useless major IMO. It's only good for becoming a professor in art history OR becoming a curator at a museum. No jobs at companies for art history majors. Vera Wang studied art history at Stanford, and is now a fashion designer. You see, the jobs art history graduates have now have zero correlation with the field. Don't go into art history.
If a Chinese parent doesn't want their child to go to an art institute, that is totally fine. Go to Yale. It has a great fine arts program, and it's fairly good at design for a university. It's where people usually go to get their MFAs (which is the equivalent to a PhD in art, NOT a masters) if they want to be a professor.
