Many school district gave IQ tests for kids at Kindergarten. However, the younger the children, the less likely the test will be accurate. In our school district, kids who were identified as gifted early on need to be re-tested at grade 3 in order to be remain in the GT program. This is because they believe many kids who got higher IQ score was due to their early exposure to reading and writing.
My daughter got 147 at 3rd grade test. I believe you need to score above 160 to be considered profoundly gifted, or we call "genius".
Unfortunately,IQ scores do not mean much things these days. There are so many factors to determine one's intelligence and the potential to success. My daughter skipped 2nd grade. Fortunately, she is doing great in high school. However,I wish thatI hadn't advance her. There are so many things outside of school work kids can put their energy to. Besides, what's the rush to get the kids out of your life to college. Now, all we think is how to keep my daughter with us for one more year.
