I graduated from Gunn about 20 years ago. It is too easy to say that this is the result of academic pressure. I would love to see a breakdown of whether these kids came from immigrant families. There are always extraordinary pressures put on children of immigrants and the combination of million dollar homes, immigrant parents and a poor economy may be too much for some of these kids to handle.
