My view is, history does need to be clarified. We just need to know authentic history. I never questioned the honesty of western scholars, or any scholars, but the reality of scholarship has turned out far less satisfactory that I naively assumed.
But there is no need to put down others either. Ancient Egypt must have been unusually accomplished. Those sculptures I saw in that show years back could not have been faked. Neither Westerners nor Chinese, even today, could reproduce them.
One thing particularly interesting about that show: the qualities of the sculptures unmistakeably dropped in Egypt's "Roman period" when Egypt was conquered and ruled by the Romans.
